This resolution congratulates Richard Veenstra on his retirement as Mayor of Addison, Illinois, after a long and distinguished career in local government. Veenstra was first elected mayor in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 and 2021, but his public service began much earlier when he was appointed to the Addison Village Board of Trustees in 1992 and subsequently elected to multiple terms. Beyond his municipal leadership, Veenstra is a licensed pharmacist who worked for CVS/Caremark, served on pharmacy association boards, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Illinois Chicago. He currently serves as a vice president on the Illinois Municipal League (IML) Board of Directors and has deep roots in the community, having lived in Addison with his wife Mary Ann since 1973. The resolution, passed by the Illinois Senate, not only congratulates Veenstra on his retirement but also wishes him well in his future endeavors and acknowledges his significant contributions to local government and the community.
