This bill appropriates funding to design and construct a memorial honoring Native American United States veterans within the Minnesota State Capitol complex. The bill establishes a 13-member Native American Veterans Memorial advisory task force, which will include one representative from each of Minnesota's federally recognized Tribes who are veterans and two at-large public members. The task force will be responsible for selecting the artist, materials, and design for the memorial through a request for proposal process. Before construction begins, the artist, materials, and design must be approved by the Indian Affairs Council. The memorial must be constructed using materials or components made in Minnesota, and a Native American artist will be contracted to design the memorial. The task force members may receive compensation and expense reimbursement, and the group will officially expire after completing the artist, materials, and design selection. Appointments to the task force must be made by September 1, 2025, with the first meeting convened by October 15, 2025, during which members will elect a chair.
