Bill Summary

AN ACT relating to issuance of specialty license plates for certain United States Army Rangers.

AI Summary

This bill amends the Texas Transportation Code to create two new specialty license plate options for United States Army Rangers. The first type of license plate will be available to active or former members of a United States Army Ranger unit or graduates of the United States Army Ranger School, and will feature the Ranger tab authorized by the Department of the Army along with the words "U.S. Army Ranger". The second type of license plate will be specifically for active or former members of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and will include the 75th Ranger Regiment shoulder sleeve insignia, the unit's designated insignia, and the words "75th Army Ranger Regiment" at the bottom of the plate. Additionally, the bill modifies an existing section of the code to expand the list of license plate options that can include multiple emblems or service branch identifiers. The new license plates will become available on September 1, 2025, providing additional recognition and commemoration for U.S. Army Rangers through a personalized vehicle registration option.
