Bill Summary

This bill provides for an annual automatic increase in the reimbursement rates for Medicaid providers. The bill provides that notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary regarding inflation factors or indexing of Medicaid provider reimbursement rates, and in addition to any other change in reimbursement rates specified for a fiscal year, the department of health and human services shall automatically increase the reimbursement rate of a Medicaid provider on July 1, annually, by applying a 2.5 percent increase to the specific provider’s current reimbursement rate.

AI Summary

This bill establishes an annual automatic 2.5 percent increase in Medicaid provider reimbursement rates, which will take effect every July 1st. The increase is designed to be applied on top of any other existing reimbursement rate changes and will override any previous legal provisions related to inflation factors or rate indexing. By mandating this automatic annual increase, the bill aims to help Medicaid providers keep pace with rising costs and potentially improve their financial stability. The increase will be applied directly to each provider's current reimbursement rate, meaning that different providers might receive slightly different dollar amounts based on their existing rate. The bill specifically requires the department of health and human services to implement this automatic increase, ensuring a consistent and predictable annual adjustment for Medicaid providers across the state.
