This bill modifies the Texas Occupations Code to expand how vehicle storage facilities can provide notice to vehicle owners when a vehicle has been towed. The bill now allows vehicle storage facilities to also provide notice on a publicly available internet website that has been approved by the relevant department. This alternative method of notice can be used in specific scenarios, such as when the vehicle is registered in another state, when the owner's identity cannot be determined, or when the vehicle lacks a license plate or inspection certificate. The bill requires the department to include a link on its own website to any approved third-party website where such notices can be published. This change aims to provide more accessible and potentially more efficient methods of notifying vehicle owners about towed vehicles, particularly in cases where traditional newspaper publication might be challenging. The bill is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
