This bill amends existing insurance law to modify continuing education requirements for insurance producers (agents). The bill introduces a new provision that allows insurance producers who are members of a professional insurance association to earn up to 4 hours of continuing education credit through active participation in association activities, starting after December 31, 2025. To qualify, producers must be dues-paying members in good standing and participate in specific association activities such as attending formal meetings, serving on boards or committees, or participating in industry meetings. The professional insurance association must be approved by the state director and must have been formed for purposes other than providing continuing education. The bill also maintains the existing requirement of 24 total continuing education hours every two years, with at least 3 hours dedicated to ethics, and continues to allow for a carryover of up to 12 non-ethics education hours from one two-year period to the next. Additionally, the bill provides flexibility for the director to credit other activities toward continuing education requirements after December 31, 2025, giving more options for insurance producers to maintain their licenses.
