This bill appropriates additional funds to the State Appellate Public Defender for fiscal year 2026, increasing their funding and personnel authorization. * The State Appellate Public Defender receives an additional $139,800 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2026, allocated for personnel costs ($129,500), operating expenditures ($8,200), and capital outlay ($2,100). * The full-time equivalent position authorization for the State Appellate Public Defender is increased by one (1.00) for fiscal year 2026. * Unexpended and unencumbered balances from fiscal year 2025, not to exceed $1,209,400 from the General Fund, are reappropriated to the State Appellate Public Defender for nonrecurring expenditures related to capital case representation during fiscal year 2026. * Unexpended and unencumbered balances from fiscal year 2025 from the General Fund are reappropriated to the State Appellate Public Defender for nonrecurring expenditures related to outside counsel for noncapital appeals during fiscal year 2026.
