This bill establishes a reentry assistance program that provides monthly stipends to eligible incarcerated individuals upon their release from state correctional facilities. An eligible individual is defined as someone who has served at least six months and has not previously received money from the program. The stipend will be at least $425 per month for up to six months, with a maximum total payment of $2,550, and will be adjusted annually for inflation. The initial payment will be made in cash or check immediately upon release, with subsequent payments made monthly by the community supervision agency.
