This resolution recognizes and commends Johanna Caicedo, a Colombian immigrant who has made significant contributions to public service in Georgia. Born in Cali, Colombia, and migrating to the United States in 1990, Caicedo was the first in her family to graduate college, earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology magna cum laude from New York College in 2001. Her professional career began with an internship at the New York City Department of Education and included work at the AIDS Center of Queens County, advocating for the LGBTQ community. After relocating to Gwinnett County in 2015, she worked at CETPA, a mental health clinic serving the Latinx community, and participated in juvenile court panels. Currently, she serves as an Outreach Coordinator for the Lifting Latinx Voices Initiative, which addresses reproductive and sexual health issues for Latinx families. The resolution highlights her leadership, dedication, integrity, and commitment to community service, and formally recognizes her contributions to the State of Georgia. The House of Representatives extends their best wishes for her continued health and happiness and directs the House Clerk to provide her with an official copy of the resolution.
