This bill modifies existing Iowa law regarding youth deer hunting licenses by expanding the flexibility of when these licenses can be purchased and used. Specifically, the bill requires the Department of Natural Resources to make youth deer hunting licenses available for purchase during the entire period that general deer hunting licenses are available, which includes all established deer hunting seasons. Additionally, the bill allows youth hunters to use their deer hunting license and tag not only in the season for which it was originally issued, but also in any subsequent established deer hunting season, as long as they use a method of take that is authorized for that specific season. An important limitation remains that if the deer tag is filled during one season, the license becomes invalid for subsequent seasons. This change aims to provide more opportunities and flexibility for young hunters by removing previous temporal restrictions on when they can purchase and use their deer hunting licenses.
