This bill updates existing pharmacy immunization laws to explicitly include COVID-19 vaccinations alongside influenza immunizations for individuals between nine and eighteen years old. The bill maintains existing requirements that parental consent must be obtained for all immunizations administered to individuals under eighteen years of age. Pharmacists who administer these immunizations will be required to electronically report the vaccinations to the department of health within seven days and notify the patient's primary care provider within fourteen days of administration. If a patient does not have a known primary care provider, the pharmacist must still complete the required reporting. The bill aims to standardize the consent, reporting, and notification processes for COVID-19 immunizations in the same manner as existing protocols for influenza vaccinations, ensuring consistent medical documentation and communication between pharmacists and healthcare providers. The legislation will take effect immediately upon its passage.
