This concurrent resolution urges the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to establish an annual festival celebrating Pacific Island culture and arts, drawing inspiration from the successful 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC) held in Hawaii in June 2024, which attracted over 500,000 visitors and 2,200 delegates from more than 25 island nations. The resolution highlights the importance of such events in promoting trans-Pacific cooperation and preserving the cultural heritages of Micronesia, Melanesia, and Polynesia, and argues that an annual dedicated opportunity to learn about and experience Pacific cultures will foster deeper understanding, cooperation, and appreciation among Pacific Island peoples. The resolution calls for the State Foundation to develop this annual festival in consultation with other agencies and requests that official copies be transmitted to key cultural and governmental leaders, including the Executive Director of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the Mayor of Honolulu, the Executive Director of the Honolulu Mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts, and all members of the Honolulu City Council.
