This concurrent resolution requests the Agribusiness Development Corporation (ADC) to designate Kunia, Leilehua Plateau, and Poamoho as the Central Oahu Agricultural Corridor, recognizing the historical significance of these farmlands which were once major pineapple production areas. The resolution aims to support Hawaii's goal of doubling local food production by 2030 and addressing the state's high food import dependency, which currently stands at nearly 85%. It specifically asks the ADC to create a prioritized list of potential agricultural infrastructure improvement projects, considering factors such as estimated agricultural production increase, project costs, county plans, zoning, land use, and other relevant considerations. Additionally, the resolution requests the Department of Transportation to implement traffic safety measures in the corridor, including establishing a 35-mile-per-hour speed limit and a "No Passing" zone. The ADC is further requested to submit a comprehensive report with its findings and recommendations to the Legislature before the 2026 Regular Session, with the ultimate goal of supporting agricultural development and infrastructure in Central Oahu.
