Specifically, the bill modifies Sections 552.117 and 552.1175 of the Government Code and Section 25.025 of the Tax Code to include these higher education officials in the categories of individuals whose personal information can be kept confidential. The bill ensures that home addresses, contact details, and other sensitive personal information for these educational leaders cannot be easily obtained through public information requests, providing them with the same privacy protections currently afforded to other public officials like law enforcement personnel, judges, and child protective services workers. The changes will apply to information requests received on or after September 1, 2025, and are designed to protect the personal safety and privacy of those who serve in leadership roles in Texas educational institutions.
