This bill proposes to repeal Chapter 75 of the Private Acts of 2004, which originally established a wheel tax in Wayne County, Tennessee. The legislation requires approval from at least two-thirds of Wayne County's legislative body before it can take effect, and once approved, the county wheel tax imposed by the 2004 private act would be eliminated. The bill has an immediate effective date for the purpose of the county legislative body voting on its approval, but will only fully take effect if the county's legislative body votes to approve the repeal by a two-thirds majority. After such approval, the presiding officer of the county legislative body must certify the decision to the Tennessee Secretary of State, formally concluding the repeal process.
