This resolution congratulates Mariachi Nueva Generación, a Latin music studies class at Texas State University, for winning first place in the college/university category at the 30th annual Mariachi Extravaganza held in San Antonio in December 2024. The Mariachi Extravaganza is a multiday festival that celebrates Latin music culture and provides a platform for over 1,000 student-musicians to showcase their talents across different age categories. Established in 1997, Mariachi Nueva Generación is dedicated to practicing various mariachi genres, including son, huapango, bolero, and polka, and has a history of regional performances and awards. By winning the competition, the group earned the prestigious opportunity to perform in the final concert alongside the world-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. The Texas House of Representatives formally recognizes the group's achievement, praising their skill, hard work, and dedication to preserving a rich musical tradition, and extends best wishes to the group's members. The resolution also mandates the preparation of an official copy of the resolution to be presented to Mariachi Nueva Generación as an expression of respect and admiration.
