This bill establishes a Bridge Employment Training Program (BET) through the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) aimed at helping Massachusetts residents improve their employability. The program is designed to support individuals who have lost their jobs within at least six weeks by creating Independent Employment Training Contracts (IETC) that can last up to two years. These contracts will match participants with training programs and potential employment opportunities in private, non-profit, and public sectors. The primary goal is to provide Employable Skills Training (EST) that helps individuals enhance their economic prospects while benefiting the Commonwealth as a whole. The department is instructed to be innovative in developing these training options, coordinate resources across different sectors, consult with Human Resource professionals, and ensure the program is non-discriminatory. Eligible participants will be those determined to be employable or who have recently lost their jobs, with the overarching objective of creating well-trained individuals who can be productively matched to available employment positions.
