This bill requires all public and private employers in construction, repair, or maintenance to post suicide prevention signage in a prominent location at their workplace. The signage must include contact information for the 988 behavioral health emergency line and the phrase "You Are Not Alone". The executive office of labor and workforce development will design and approve the signs, which must be available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Italian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Laotian, Khmer, Russian, and any language spoken by at least 10,000 people or 0.5% of Massachusetts residents. Specifically, the signs must be in English and any language that is the primary language of 5 or more employees at that particular workplace. The signs will be downloadable from the department's webpage and also available in physical form. This legislation aims to provide mental health resources and support to workers in high-stress construction environments, potentially helping to prevent suicide by making critical support information easily accessible.
