This bill requires the Board of Registration in Medicine to collect voluntary demographic, linguistic, and professional data from physicians when they apply for or renew their medical licenses starting January 1, 2027. The collected information will include details such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, medical specialty, practice location, years of practice in Massachusetts, and employment status. Participation is optional and will not impact license approval. The Center for Health Information and Analysis will receive this data, aggregate and de-identify it, and make it publicly available on their website within 60 days of each year's end. The bill aims to assess physician workforce diversity and its potential impact on health outcomes in Massachusetts. The data cannot be sold to third parties, and the Center for Health Information and Analysis must submit an annual report to the state legislature's Public Health Committee, the Senate and House Clerks, and the Department of Public Health by February 28th each year. The legislation will take effect 90 days after its enactment.
