This bill amends Massachusetts state law to prohibit the sale of competitive foods and non-sweetened carbonated water containing specific food dyes in public schools during and shortly after the school day, starting December 31, 2028. The restrictions apply from midnight before the school day until 30 minutes after the school day ends. However, schools can still sell or provide these foods with restricted dyes if they are sold off school premises, at least half an hour after the school day concludes, or during school-sponsored fundraisers and events like booster sales and concession stands.
