This bill extends enhanced Medicaid benefits to eligible hospitals by authorizing the Secretary of Health and Human Services to provide monthly payments equal to 5% of an eligible hospital's average monthly Medicaid payments for inpatient and outpatient acute hospital services. The payments are capped at a total of $35 million per fiscal year and are specifically designed for non-profit or municipal acute care hospitals that received similar enhanced Medicaid payments in 2021 and 2022. These supplemental payments are not intended to offset existing Medicaid payments or be used in calculating future average monthly payments.
