This bill proposes to create a special Massachusetts Fallen Firefighter Memorial motorcycle license plate that residents can purchase for their motorcycles. The new license plate will be similar to the existing automobile version established in 2006. When someone purchases this specialty plate, they will pay a $40 fee, of which $28 will be directed to support the Massachusetts Fallen Firefighter Memorial located at Ashburton Park near the State House, and $12 will go to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MASSDOT) to cover the manufacturing costs. The memorial will be coordinated by the Massachusetts Fallen Firefighter Memorial, a non-profit 501(C)(3) charitable organization. The bill is named the "Dave Condon Firefighter Memorial License Plate Act" and will amend Chapter 90 of the Massachusetts General Laws by adding a new section (Section 6D) that authorizes the creation and issuance of these specialized motorcycle license plates.
