This resolution recognizes the significant contributions of AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors, national service programs that have engaged approximately 200,000 individuals annually across 40,000 locations in the United States since their establishment 32 years ago. The resolution highlights the programs' effectiveness in strengthening communities, promoting civic engagement, and providing pathways to education and careers. Over the past 30 years, nearly 1.3 million individuals have served in these programs, earning over $4.5 billion for educational advancement and gaining valuable workforce skills. AmeriCorps members and volunteers have made substantial impacts in areas such as improving lives of vulnerable populations, environmental protection, public safety, disaster response, education, and economic opportunity. The resolution emphasizes how these programs bring together people from diverse backgrounds and generations, recruit community volunteers, and have broad political support. It specifically encourages Americans to recognize AmeriCorps members and volunteers during AmeriCorps Week (March 9-15, 2025), salute their positive contributions, thank community partners, and inspire more people to engage in national and community service.
