Victims will have the responsibility of providing and maintaining current contact information with the laboratory to receive these notifications. The procedures will outline how the laboratory will gather victim contact information and the method(s) of notification. The bill will become effective on October 1, 2025, and will apply to sexual assault examination kits submitted before, on, or after that date, ensuring that victims have a right to information about their kit's status regardless of when the kit was originally submitted.
