This bill establishes a special "Medal of Fidelity" license plate for qualifying next of kin of fallen service members in Massachusetts. When a family member applies for and receives the Medal of Fidelity from the Adjutant General, they will be automatically notified of their eligibility to receive a free distinctive license plate. These special license plates will feature an image of the medal and ribbon and include the words "MEDAL OF FIDELITY" along the bottom. The Registrar of Motor Vehicles is required to create and provide these plates free of charge to recipients of the Medal of Fidelity who own a private passenger motor vehicle. Additionally, the Registrar must work with the Adjutant General to notify all past Medal of Fidelity recipients about their license plate eligibility within six months of the plate's design and circulation, ensuring that those who have previously received the medal are informed about this new benefit.
