This bill requires owners and operators of various motor vehicle-related businesses, including licensed repair shops, junkyards, and automobile graveyards, as well as any entity that sells or stores motor vehicle batteries, to prominently display notices informing the public and first responders about the presence of motor vehicle batteries on their premises. The requirement applies to holders of Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 licenses under section 58, and businesses registered under chapter 100A. The purpose of this requirement is likely to enhance safety by ensuring that first responders and the public are aware of potential battery-related hazards in the event of an emergency. Businesses that fail to display such notices will be subject to a civil penalty of $250.
