This bill establishes a Massachusetts-Poland Trade Commission within the International Trade Office to promote economic and diplomatic relationships between Massachusetts and Poland. The commission will consist of 21 members, including 12 state legislators (6 from the House and 6 from the Senate), 6 members appointed by the governor (including the Polish consul general to New England, the secretary of the Commonwealth, and the secretary of economic development), 3 members from higher education institutions, and 3 members from Polish American organizations. The commission's key responsibilities include advancing bilateral trade and investments, initiating joint policy actions, promoting business and academic exchanges, encouraging economic support, furthering infrastructure investments, and creating economic and educational opportunities between Massachusetts and Poland. Commission members will not receive compensation but will be reimbursed for expenses and are considered special state employees. The commission is required to produce an annual report by August 31st detailing its findings and recommendations to the governor, legislative leaders, and economic development secretary. All members must have knowledge of or involvement in Polish American affairs or an interest in trade relations between Massachusetts and Poland.
