This resolution mourns the passing of Leonard F. Porcaro, a 92-year-old distinguished citizen from Schenectady, New York, who dedicated his life to community service and his family. Born in Albany in 1932, Porcaro served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he worked as a Radio Operator in Germany and received several military honors, including the Army of Occupation Medal. Throughout his professional life, he worked at various jobs including Keeler's Restaurant, General Electric, and the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 1992. He was deeply involved in veteran communities, serving as Commander of American Legion Post No. 1005 for over 40 years and attending every member's funeral as a sign of respect. Porcaro was known for his love of Italian heritage, music, and cooking, and was a devoted family man survived by his wife of 68 years, Anita, three children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The resolution honors his life of service, strong Christian faith, and ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures, and formally expresses condolences to his family while requesting a copy of the resolution be transmitted to them.
