This bill requires gasoline stations over 1,500 square feet that install new fuel pumps to assess their proximity to optimal sites for electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs as identified by the electric vehicle coordinating council. If a gasoline station is located in one of these optimal sites, the dealer must install at least one electric vehicle charging station when adding new fuel pumps. The bill defines an electric vehicle charging station as a level three fast charging station that can simultaneously charge multiple electric vehicles using non-proprietary chargers compatible with at least three different auto manufacturers. Furthermore, the bill stipulates that no building permit will be issued to a dealer unless they have completed the required proximity assessment and, if applicable, included plans for an EV charging station.
