This bill establishes a special sick leave bank specifically for Eric J. Iwaniec, an employee of the Massachusetts Trial Court. Under this legislation, other employees of the Department can voluntarily donate one or more of their own sick, personal, or vacation days to create a bank of leave time that Eric J. Iwaniec can use, presumably for an extended illness or disability. If Iwaniec either leaves his employment or requests to dissolve the sick leave bank, any remaining donated days will be transferred to the extended illness leave bank. The bill importantly stipulates that the donated sick leave days can only be used for absences directly related to the specific illness or disability that prompted the creation of this bank, as determined by the Department. The bill would take effect immediately upon its passage, and it overrides any existing general or special laws that might otherwise prevent such a sick leave bank from being established.
