This bill seeks to grant Neal Bryan Martin, an employee of the Hoosac Water Quality District, membership in the North Adams retirement system and retroactive creditable service for his past work. Specifically, the bill allows the North Adams retirement board to credit Martin with up to 18.5 years of service for his full-time employment with the Hoosac Water Quality District between April 4, 1988, and December 8, 2006. The retirement board is required to verify the exact dates of Martin's employment and credit him with creditable service accordingly. Martin's retirement allowance will be calculated as if he were a Group 1 employee who retired at age 65, in accordance with Chapter 32 of the Massachusetts General Laws. The Hoosac Water Quality District serves two member communities, North Adams and Williamstown, and the North Adams retirement system covers employees of the district, the Northern Berkshire vocational regional school's non-teaching staff, and employees of the city of North Adams and the North Adams housing authority.
