This bill establishes a 15-member advisory commission to study best practices and safety protocols in state-subsidized housing specifically for seniors and non-elderly disabled individuals. The commission will be formed within 45 days of the act's effective date and will include members appointed by various stakeholders: two members selected by the Governor, four members each from the House of Representatives and Senate, and one member each from organizations including the Citizens Housing and Planning Association, the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, the Mass Union of Public Housing Tenants, the Disability Law Center, and the Massachusetts Municipal Association. The purpose of this commission is to comprehensively examine and potentially improve the conditions, safety, and management of subsidized housing for vulnerable populations who rely on state-supported housing options.
