Born in 1973 in Varna, Bulgaria, she experienced the fall of Communism as a teenager and pursued her education at America University in Bulgaria. During a summer program in Prague, she met her future husband, Dan McConchie, and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer linked to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Despite her health challenges, she married Dan and supported his political career while raising two daughters, Sophia and Kristina. The resolution highlights her character as a lover of freedom, a devoted follower of her faith, and a woman of considerable strength who endured significant medical treatments with grace. The Illinois Senate officially expresses its condolences to her family and resolves to present a copy of the resolution to her husband Dan, a retired state senator, as a gesture of sympathy and recognition of her life and contributions.
