This bill amends Section 45 of chapter 152 in Massachusetts workers' compensation law by adding a new provision that addresses situations where an employee is medically cleared to return to work but refuses to do so. Specifically, if a registered physician determines through an examination that an employee is fit to return to work and the employee declines to return, the bill allows for the suspension of the employee's workers' compensation benefits. During the period of suspension, the employee may completely forfeit their right to receive compensation.
