This resolution honors and commends the Foothills Land Conservancy (FLC), a regional land trust dedicated to protecting and preserving lands in the Southern Appalachian region, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary in 2025. Founded in 1985 and granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, FLC has assisted in preserving over 200,000 acres across seven states, including more than 100,000 acres in Tennessee's 52 counties through partnerships with over 250 landowners. The organization helps landowners permanently preserve their properties through conservation easement agreements and has been involved in significant conservation projects, including protecting Camp Montvale, seven Tennessee Century Farms, wildlife management areas, and collaborating with organizations like Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and Ducks Unlimited. In 2023, FLC expanded its impact by acquiring the Southeast Regional Land Conservancy, adding 140 conservation partnerships and 35,000 preserved acres. The resolution recognizes the organization's leadership and efforts in environmental conservation, particularly in the Southern Appalachian region, and extends best wishes for its continued success.
