This bill allows municipalities and fire departments to authorize volunteer emergency services providers (such as volunteer firefighters, ambulance attendants, and paramedics) who have served for at least three years to purchase up to four tires for one personal vehicle every three years using the same municipal tire contracts that the municipality or fire department uses. The volunteer emergency services provider must pay for the tires, including all taxes and fees. To be authorized, the municipality or fire department must provide a written authorization on official letterhead that includes the volunteer's name, years of service, vehicle license plate number, and a reference to the tire contract. The municipality or fire department must also keep records of how many tires each volunteer purchases. This bill aims to provide a small benefit to long-serving volunteer emergency services providers by allowing them to potentially access tires at potentially more favorable prices through existing municipal contracts.
