AI Summary

This bill authorizes pharmacists and physicians in South Carolina to enter into "collaborative practice agreements," which are written plans outlining how pharmacists can provide medication management and other patient care services under a physician's direction to support treatment goals. The bill defines these agreements, clarifies that both parties must be licensed, actively practicing, and located within the state, and requires them to have a system for sharing patient information, such as access to the same electronic medical records or a HIPAA-compliant method for exchanging written records, to ensure coordinated care. Importantly, the bill mandates that the State Board of Pharmacy and the State Board of Medical Examiners must create regulations governing these agreements, and they cannot be put into practice until those regulations are in effect.
