AI Summary

This bill amends the Macon Water Authority Act to change the electoral districts and governance structure for the Macon Water Authority. The authority will continue to consist of nine members, with eight elected members and one appointed member from the Macon-Bibb County governing authority. The bill establishes a new electoral district system, with Districts 1-7 defined by specific geographic boundaries and District 8 covering the entire county. The bill introduces a staggered election schedule, with initial elections for Districts 5, 6, and 7 in November 2025, followed by elections for Districts 1, 4, 5, and 8 in 2026, and Districts 2, 3, 6, and 7 in 2028. These will be nonpartisan elections with four-year terms. The bill also sets salaries for elected members at $15,000 per year and the chairperson at $25,000 per year, with the chairperson specifically representing District 8. Current board members will continue to serve until the expiration of their terms, and the authority is required to hold at least two meetings per month. The changes are designed to update the governance and representation of the Macon Water Authority.
