This bill amends the arts and cultural affairs law to empower the council on the arts to designate "Little Yemen" as an official cultural district in New York City. Specifically, the bill defines Little Yemen as a region in the Bronx bounded by White Plains Road on the West, Bronxdale Avenue on the East and North, and Van Nest Avenue on the South. This addition complements an existing provision that already recognizes East Harlem (El Barrio) as a cultural district.
