This bill requires the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to develop a comprehensive wildlife corridor action plan by December 1, 2026, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation. The plan will identify and prioritize wildlife crossing projects that enhance driver safety and wildlife connectivity by mapping and analyzing key ecological areas, including wildlife migration routes, habitats for rare or at-risk species, and locations with high vehicle-wildlife collision risks. Using the best available scientific research and department surveys, the plan must detail existing and planned barriers to wildlife movement, such as roads, dams, power lines, and pipelines, and recommend specific crossing infrastructure or mitigation techniques for each prioritized project. The department is also mandated to assist other state and federal agencies in incorporating wildlife corridor considerations into their strategic plans, and to maintain and periodically update the plan's information on its website, ensuring ongoing transparency and adaptability in addressing wildlife habitat connectivity and roadway safety.
