This resolution recognizes Olivia Chambers, a Paralympic swimmer from Little Rock, Arkansas, for her extraordinary athletic and academic achievements. Chambers began swimming at age four and was diagnosed with Multiple Mitochondrial Gene Deletion Syndrome at sixteen, which has progressively led to her becoming legally blind. Despite her vision loss, she has achieved remarkable success in Paralympic swimming, winning a gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle S13 and two silver medals at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. She has also earned numerous accolades, including seven Para Swimming American records, two world records, and eight United States Paralympics Swimming National Championship titles. Additionally, Chambers is an academic standout, attending the University of Northern Iowa's Honors College with a double major in biology and psychology, and has been recognized multiple times as a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete. The resolution, passed by the Arkansas House of Representatives, formally acknowledges her exceptional accomplishments and the pride she brings to the state of Arkansas, and directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to her by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives.
