This bill amends the Texas Property Code to expand protections against discrimination in real estate brokerage services. Specifically, the bill clarifies that a person cannot be denied access to, or membership in, multiple-listing services, real estate brokers' organizations, or other related facilities based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. The bill adds an important provision that initiating an ethics complaint against someone in relation to speech involving a matter of public concern or religion is now considered a form of discrimination in membership terms or conditions. The changes will apply only to complaints filed with the Texas Workforce Commission's civil rights division on or after the bill's effective date, which is September 1, 2025. This modification aims to protect real estate professionals from potential discrimination when discussing matters of public importance or religious topics within their professional organizations.
