This bill restores the right to vote (suffrage) to Derrick Dujmov of Harrison County, Mississippi, who had previously lost his voting rights due to criminal convictions. Specifically, Dujmov was disqualified as an elector following his conviction for grand larceny and possession of a controlled substance in 2011, which resulted in a two-year probation and three-year sentence with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was later sentenced in 2018 to an additional two and a half years for delivery of a controlled substance. Despite these past legal issues, the Legislature notes that Dujmov has since conducted himself as a law-abiding citizen and is now being granted the restoration of his voting rights. The bill will take effect immediately upon its passage, allowing Dujmov to regain his right to vote in future elections.
