The abbreviated assessment must verify current needs, confirm the appropriate level of care, inform the person about service alternatives, provide informed choice, screen for potential changes in needs, review the person-centered service plan, and reauthorize services. Additionally, the bill continues to allow for remote reassessments under certain conditions, such as using interactive video or telephone, with the requirement that these can substitute for a limited number of in-person assessments and must be done with the person's informed consent. The changes are set to take effect on January 1, 2026, or upon federal approval, whichever occurs later.
