This bill requires the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to submit a request to the federal Department of Health and Human Services to increase Medicaid reimbursement rates for certain healthcare providers, specifically mental health care providers (type 14 providers) and other specified providers (type 34 providers). The bill mandates a series of potential rate increases: a baseline 3% increase for services, with additional 3% increases for services provided in community settings (like homes, schools, or community centers), in counties with populations under 100,000, and in areas with healthcare provider shortages. For mental health providers, there's an extra 3% increase for services in designated mental health professional shortage areas. The Department must identify these shortage areas by October 1, 2025, and the reimbursement rate request must use methods accepted by the federal Secretary of Health and Human Services. The bill aims to improve healthcare access and provider compensation, particularly in rural or underserved areas, by making Medicaid reimbursement rates more attractive to healthcare providers. The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval.
