This resolution recognizes and commends the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program on its 10th anniversary, highlighting its significant contributions to supporting veterans and active-duty service members. Established in 2015 with support from the Wounded Warrior Project, the program is a center of excellence focused on treating "invisible wounds" such as post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, anxiety, and depression. Over its ten-year history, the program has served more than 3,500 veterans and service members, with its flagship two-week Accelerated Brain Health Program showing clinically significant improvements for over 75 percent of participants. The program removes barriers to treatment by providing free transportation, meals, lodging, activities, and clinical care for post-9/11 veterans and their families. While serving veterans nationwide, the program has particularly impacted Georgia, treating nearly 2,000 Georgians and participating in state-level veteran support initiatives like the Returning Veteran Task Force and the Governor's Challenge to Prevent Suicide. The resolution emphasizes the program's critical role in addressing mental health challenges that can contribute to military suicide, ultimately transforming and saving lives of those who have served.
