This bill modifies Minnesota election law by expanding notice requirements when a polling place location changes. Currently, when a polling place location is altered, election officials must mail a nonforwardable notice to households with registered voters at least 25 days before an election. The bill adds a new requirement that local election officials must also physically post a large-print notice at the closed polling place and, if possible, in areas where voters using drive-up voting can see it. The notice must be posted in all languages required for that precinct and must remain in place for each primary and general election until either a presidential election or redistricting occurs. The secretary of state is tasked with preparing a sample notice format. The bill specifically excludes polling place changes made on election day from these new notice requirements, maintaining consistency with existing provisions that handle last-minute location adjustments.
