This resolution recognizes and commends six middle school students from Tennessee who were selected as National Ambassadors for the 2024 Do the Write Thing (DtWT) Challenge, a national youth violence prevention program. The students - Charlotte Mount, Josiah Young, Adedamola Adeyemo, Bobby Calvin III, Amara-Asa Nwachukwu, and Tiernan Carney - were chosen from different schools across Tennessee's Western and Eastern Grand Divisions after participating in a writing program that encourages students to examine the root causes and effects of youth violence. As part of their recognition, the students traveled to Washington, D.C. in July 2024, where they participated in various activities including an awards dinner at the Kuwait Ambassador's residence, a tour of the Library of Congress, and a banquet at the National Press Club. Their writings were compiled into a leather-bound volume and placed in the Library of Congress. The resolution highlights the students' exceptional commitment to addressing youth violence and commends them for representing Tennessee in this national initiative, which has involved over 2.5 million students since its inception and receives approximately 85,000 written submissions annually.
