This concurrent resolution honors Linda E. Johnson for her exceptional 38-year tenure as Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAVT), during which she made significant contributions to preventing child abuse both statewide and nationally. The resolution highlights her innovative approaches to addressing complex family challenges, including developing three key organizational departments focused on family support, healthy relationships, and infant and toddler services. Johnson's leadership resulted in impactful achievements, such as securing state funding for 80 parent support groups that served over 1,900 children, implementing programs in all five Vermont men's prisons, and contributing to a 66 percent reduction in child abuse victims and a significant decrease in Shaken Baby Syndrome cases. The resolution recognizes her compassionate approach to understanding family dynamics and her groundbreaking work in preventing child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse, and culminates by formally honoring her as the first recipient of PCAVT's Lifetime Champion for Children Award in December 2024. The General Assembly additionally directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Johnson and PCAVT as a formal acknowledgment of her remarkable service.
