This bill amends Michigan's Clean and Renewable Energy Act to modify renewable energy credit (REC) requirements for electric providers. Electric providers can meet these standards by generating renewable electricity, purchasing renewable energy, or acquiring renewable energy credits, with some restrictions. The bill also allows customers to contribute their own renewable energy credits towards an electric provider's portfolio and provides financial incentives for electric providers entering into renewable energy purchase agreements. The legislation aims to gradually increase Michigan's renewable energy generation while providing mechanisms for electric providers to adapt to these evolving standards.
